Content Area Tools.

  • Scholastic Reading Inventory and Accelerated Reader/Reading Comprehension- students are asked to read paper-based books, then use the computer as an assessment tool to determine whether thier comprehension skills are progressing. This helps to tell if a student is able to comprehend the materials that they are reading.
  • Interactive Books-Tend to include a narrated story, often with text that follows along, and certain interactive components. Allow the student to follow along and participate in the book that they are reading, and maybe gain a better understanding of the book.
  • Phonics/Fonty-focus on helping students learn what certain letter combinations sound like alone and togther. Helps them learn to read by sounding out words, and know how the letters sound when put together.

I could use this to help with their spelling words as well as their reading comprehensino.
