What Have I Learned?
In this course, our objective as future teachers is to find a way to incorporate learning and technology. To make education more interesting and fun for students. As years pass, the extent of technology, along with its power and resourcefulness are making it possible to take learning to levels never approached before. With just a click of the mouse, teachers can take their students to other countries, get a look at different environments and animals, do and see online science experiences, and have text readily available to them that may have not been available before. It is our jobs as teachers to make the students aware of all the information that technology offers. To make students look outside the box and not follow the text book to find their answers or to discover new information. For this to be possible, we must find ways to incorporate the new technology into their learning so that they can learn how to use the technology. Technology advancements have opened the windows for more information and learning to reach students, and it is important for students to learn and use that information responsibly, and that is the responsibility of the teachers and well as the parents of the students.

Content Area Tools.
- Scholastic Reading Inventory and Accelerated Reader/Reading Comprehension- students are asked to read paper-based books, then use the computer as an assessment tool to determine whether thier comprehension skills are progressing. This helps to tell if a student is able to comprehend the materials that they are reading.
- Interactive Books-Tend to include a narrated story, often with text that follows along, and certain interactive components. Allow the student to follow along and participate in the book that they are reading, and maybe gain a better understanding of the book.
- Phonics/Fonty-focus on helping students learn what certain letter combinations sound like alone and togther. Helps them learn to read by sounding out words, and know how the letters sound when put together.
Helpful Sites
- http://www.superkids.com/aweb/pages/reviews/spelling/1/cgrws/merge.shtml- this website will help the students to practice spelling, while making it fun and entertaining since it follows the "Curious George" book series. I could use this to help with their spelling words as well as their reading comprehensino.
- http://www.fontyonline.com- software that teachers reading through phonics. It allows the students to follow the book that they are reading. It will also help them get a better understanding the text. I could use this to test their comprehension skills.

Blog #2, 21st Century Skells
In class we have used technology in many different ways, to demonstrate that technology is not limited for entertainment purposes, but can and is not being used for educational purposes. Recently in class we used the Smartboard as a source of teaching students and making it fun for them to learn through the use of games on the Smartboard. The Smartboard is an interactive tool that the students can use to learn, and the teachers can use to teach, and go outside the box of typical teaching and learning approaches. Students are able to have fun while learning, and the learning becomes like a game to them, which makes the student want to learn, therefore it makes teaching easier, when the student wants to learn.

when i think about integrating technology there are many ways that this is done. with the use of television, overheads, the internet, computers in general, and many other technologies. these technologies allow teachers and students to expand their learnings and teachings, and also get new insight in to the world around them. no longer is learning limited to the classroom, internet and television allow the teacher to show their students true events and first hand accounts from the subjects that they are learning and get the true experience of the lessons that they are learning.
